Bill is a strategic business leader with over 30 years’ experience in the financial services industry and corporate governance disciplines. He was an early adopter of flexible, cost-effective enterprise risk management (ERM) technology and risk management program models. Bill has extensive knowledge of standards and best practices in business resiliency, consumer credit, compliance, information security, Payment Card Industry (PCI), operational, and third-party risk areas. Most recently he was the Chief Risk Officer of the First Marblehead Corporation (a publicly-traded financial services company) and CEO of Union Federal Savings Bank.  

After leaving First Marblehead, Bill founded proERM, which is a professional services firm whose mission is to promote the advantages of effective Enterprise Risk Management practices for small to mid-size commercial and non-profit organizations, and to work alongside such organizations to help them achieve success.  

Bill has participated as a speaker and panelist at many industry conferences and seminars. He is a member of the ABA Institute of Certified Bankers and the Institute of Internal Auditors, and has held several Board of Director level positions in Boston area non-profit organizations. Bill earned his B.S. degree in Accounting and Management from Franklin Pierce College. He is a Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager, and previously held Certified Internal Auditor and Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist certifications.
