FAMILY COURT: WEAPON OF CHILDHOOD DESTRUCTION

Ten battles over, countless more to go, the war continues. This war has become her favorite way to inflict as much pain on as many people as she can at all cost – including the use of her children in court and using them to carry her “bombs” to our home.  I sit here in the dark watching the hurt silently fall from my husband’s eyes and I know deep down there is no way to stop this – the attorneys will keep collecting, the judges will continue to allow motion after motion, Mom will continue to claim her “victory,” and the kids, these poor kids, will continue to be in crisis. Family court will continue to be her weapon of choice and the family court will welcome her with open arms with ammunition at the ready – with no regard to where the most damage is occurring – to THE KIDS!

Over the four years that I have known my husband, thirty-three motions/petitions have been filed in one court and four in another. That is thirty-seven motions/petitions in four years - actually three - because she went silent for 10 months (just wait for the reason)! Pretty much every month or so we receive a “bomb” through our attorney or even through the kids. Mom says this - Mom says you owe her - Mom says you get credit if I stay here, so I am moving out - petition to modify custody - petition to modify support - petition for attorney’s fees - motion for continuance - motion for in camera interview for the children, and so on and so on. Every month! We may be growing numb to the court induced bombs, but we will never grow numb to hearing the kids being drawn into this delusional battle and watching the kids suffer.

Ten total orders have been written by the judges – all saying the same thing from the original order. Dad’s parenting time remains the same, support is X dollars, meeting time and place is to be X. And for four years, not one judge or attorney warned anyone about drawing the kids into this battle, not one judge said to stop this nonsense, not one judge said “petition denied” because this was just argued and decided upon last month. The narcissists’ weapon is ready to fire at any time – day or night! And we wait on the battlefield with our shields up trying to protect the kids from all of this at all cost!

The 10 months of silence is the true reason why this weapon should be removed – immediately! After court order number 9, Mom’s support was lowered due to a significant lie about the use of insurance and daycare. Neither was deemed necessary by court since Mom was on Medicaid and was not employed more than 12 hours per week and the children were in school during this time. In some states, insurance and daycare are used in the support worksheet. Well, this was not the answer that she wanted – her weapon finally backfired! Like a child whose toy was removed, she retaliated by writing and mailing a letter to the judge’s personal home. Did she sign HER name? Of course not, this letter was allegedly written by one of the children, but any fool could see through this. So the 10 months of “silence” was used to find a new attorney and new judge that would listen to her since her existing weapon may not be as ready to accept her ammunition. Were there any consequences for this action? No Way! Are you kidding me? That brings us to order number 10!!

Order number 10 - new judge in a new state! Let’s shop for someone who will allow this nonsense to continue!! Forum shopping at its finest! Don’t get what you want – go find another judge that will! Did the new judge in the new state take into consideration that the existing judge knew the case and created the existing orders based on his FULL knowledge of the case? NO! Why would we let common sense prevail in any of this nonsense? Keep the weapon loaded for her, family court, maybe one of these bombs will eventually create the damage on the coparent that it is intended for because the real damage is happening at home and at school, in the kids’ everyday lives. Why can’t the courts see that? I don’t have that high of expectations for Mom, but I do for the courts. I thought you were for the “best interest of the children.” Grades faltering, lack of attention or focus on anything, missed school, perpetual illnesses, aggression toward other children, lying, secrets, lack of trust, lack of confidence, fear, anger, confusion – DO YOU CALL THIS THE BEST INTEREST OF THE CHILDREN????????? Time to wake up family court! You are being used!

So, hurt falls silently from his eyes, while he watches the weapon reload. The war continues, the next battle is pending. The shield is weakening, one of our biggest fears are realized. Peace, stability and security for our children – only a pipedream at this point. There is no one that will stop the battles from continuing. One judge says no, another will take his place. One attorney says no, there are hundreds waiting with new bombs and ammunition. The damage this horrible weapon has inflicted on parents is nothing compared to the damage this weapon continues to inflict on our children’s present and future. You want to change the world - break the weapon! Stop this silent abuse of our children!!
